The year 2013, started in Uppsala, where I spent time with my family. Trausti flew on the 31st to South Africa to train for about 3 weeks. So the year started with a lot of “alone time”. Nothing wrong with that, but it is so much better to have T-lovaboy within a reach.
Here are some highlights of 2013…
January was cold in Sweden. Trausti came home mid/late Jan. just before his birthday, and at the same time his best friend Bergsteinn and his girlfriend Vigdís came for a visit. The weekend was really nice and on the night before Trausti’s birthday I had gathered some of his friends and classmates for a surprise party. And he was surprised – took him few minutes to figure out that he was the reason for why all his friends were there, not just a random coincidence.
One theme of 2013 was Trausti is competing or training here and there. In August we tried to count the days we had spent apart and after reaching 76 days we stopped counting…. In February Trausti went to Iceland to compete for FH in the indoor season. The month was mainly quality time with friends, Margrét Rós, Klara Jóns, Club Karl Gústaf – dinner and handball games … and loads more. Anna Dröfn Black Tulip member had her first baby, wonderfully cute baby girl with LOADS of hair on her head.
March started with a visit from Trausti’s parents. We focused on cooking and eating great food and exploring the city in the cold. It was very nice! More of the same as previous two months, cozy time with friends and of course school work. T and I decided to celebrate our 2 years together a month later (22nd of March instead of February) and went out for dinner at AG Restaurang. Wonderful food, really recommend it.
Awesome is for April – To kick off the month my nephew Úlfur Ari was born on the 5th. Soon after I had my Knowledge Report tests, but that was about it for school that month. We had 2 weeks of free time, so Maria and I booked a flight and rented a car in Sardinia. It was super and it was so nice to get some feel of summer, be able to wear shorts and let those super white legs of mine see some daylight. Jenný Haralds came to Stockholm with her wonderful man and soon after Arnrún Lea, my cousin came for a visit with the ultimate goal of going to see JUSTIN BIEBER in Globen. That was a clear big check on my “bucket list”. The month was then sealed with a visit from my parents and brother where we spent most of the time looking at the new family member.
Finally in May the sun started to bring some warmth here in the North with BBQ in a park and with Club Karl Gústaf watching Eurovision. Another concert and another check on the “bucket list” was Beyoncé on the 29th. Truly AMAZING! She is just too cool and too hot and too much everything. How can you not love her.
Soon it was time to go to Iceland and in June I said hello to my wonderful friends there on the island up north. Coctails, dinners, lunches with cute babies. Summer house visit, taking the bus to work, dyeing my hair blonde and running were all things I did.
July was more family themed month, balanced with work, friends and two amazing concerts. One with Frank Ocean in Laugardalshöll and one with my probably all time favorite musician John Grant. My father turned 60 and my nephew was christened, with appropriate celebrations. Árni, Trausti’s brother celebrated his marriage to Julie so of course there was a bachelorette party with everything that comes with it, dressing up the bachelorette, dancing to Madonna eating good food and going to a spa.
In August we (T and I) wanted to go and get little more of the Icelandic nature, but nature sent us back home to the city with wind and cold so the Verslunarmannahelgi was spent in the city. Before going back to Sweden I managed to have a wonderful dinner with my lovely ladies in the Black Tulip. Trausti stayed in Iceland, so we were once again apart. I didn’t stay for long at home in Stockholm, but went with my sister and co to visit my parents in Malmö. We had a cozy time as always together and explored south of Sweden a little and went for a day to Copenhagen. After coming back to Stockholm, Gröna Lund was visited for the first time and at the end of the month it was time to catch up with friends from school.
September came with crayfish party, reuniting with my man and my first Half Marathon, the time was not super, but I have several reasons for that, one is the fact that I was not in the correct start group and had to the whole time try to pass people that were not running at the same pace. But this just gives me a reason to do it again some day.
October was much about going back to school because in September we took elective courses so we were not really reunited as a class until in October. In October I ran my first 10 k race in Hässelbyloppet, really happy with my time there and the race was fun, being in the right starting group really made a difference. Edda cutie came to Stockholm so I was lucky enough to be able to spend some quality time with her.
We visited Trausti’s sister Lilja and her family in Paris in November. A new family member joined us in October so we got to spend some time with the little beauty queen Lína Rose. Paris is such a beautiful city and it is so much fun to just walk around there, so much to see and hear and enjoy. Loads of memories came flying back from me living there in 2008 and 9 and it was a little strange to come back after almost 5 years, so much has happened since then. We went to amazing restaurant called Pamela Popo, great food and just cozy place to sit and enjoy the food, you should go there next time you visit Paris.
December did not bring any snow… The weather here in Stockholm has been very mild and not at all what it was last year. Trausti’s parents came to stay with us for a long weekend in mid December so we were able to have a mini Christmas holiday with them here. We went to Skansen, out for a dinner at a little place in Gamla stan where most of us got reindeer and I start drooling just thinking about it. After opening Christmas presents from them here at home on the 15th we had a week of final projects to hand in and test to take and lectures and so on before flying to Nice to spend Christmas with my family. Nice was nice but we didn’t really spend much time there exploring the city, but we visited, Monaco, Cannes and Antibes. And the last day the girls drove to Grasse to go to a 2 hour workshop to make their own perfume. Great time and of course not to forget, with food as well. French on Christmas Eve, Icelandic on Christmas day.
New Years were in Sweden this year, great food and with a Swedish party. The New Years kiss was outside looking at fireworks.
Here is a photo of the housewife before going to the New Years party.
Hope you all have a wonderful 2014!
Happy New Year!
